Abstract:

Multi-photon microscopy exploits the use of NIR, ultrafast light to image deep into scattering media and has become the the gold-standard  for the in vivo, sub-cellular imaging, particularly in neuroscience. The low efficiency of the two (or) three-photon absorption confines fluorescence excitation of a very limited focal volume and requires scanning along the axial plane of interest to generate an image. I will share during the seminar our advances in extending multi photon microscopy from planar to continuous volumetric imaging and the challenges we overcome to increase sampling under photon-deprived conditions.
